Today at Harley-Davidson was especially enlightening. I learned first-hand about integrated systems for internal communications – sitting in on a presentation by a consultant and getting a solid overview and run down on the direction H-D is taking with upgrades to their integrated systems of communications. Moving away from an archaic custom program for document sharing, Intranet content, communication and other tasks – H-D is poised to roll out a newer integrated system that consolidates and creates efficiencies around several channels including email, document sharing, RSS feeds, employee communication content, social engagement and conference calls. They are also building in a process for monitoring and metrics with custom dashboards for leadership and special teams. It was exciting to see the plans and incredible work behind the scenes – gaining a stronger understanding of new terminology and best practices around integrated systems for employee communications.
I also had the opportunity to share my knowledge and background in metrics and Google Analytics – providing some input and direction to the group as they seek to improve skillsets across various employee levels while also building in search engine optimization, key performance indicators and points of conversion as they relate to the internal communications efforts.
As a close to my day I received a new task – reviewing, assessing and compiling an executive summary report on a recent internal advocacy survey. Fun with SurveyMonkey!
